The Painting Process

About Crown of Thorns

Crown of Thorns is the face of Jesus during his passion and crucifixion.  The base acrylic pour is red, gold, silver, and copper paint. After the initial pour dried, the face of Jesus took form in the paint in the mind of the artist. The bloody colors of the base pour convey the pain, agony, and humiliation of His passion and crucifixion.  The concentration of gold at the top of the canvas forms the halo to crown the bloody face of Jesus. Minimalist black brush strokes capture His pain and suffering.
