About Mother of Sorrows
Mother of Sorrows is one of the titles of Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ and the mother of all of us. Each title of Mary praises her majesty and magnitude while allowing us different ways we can petition her. Mary’s many different titles also give depth to her humanity and provide us with ways we can access and relate to her.
Our Mother's sorrow is captured in her regal yet mournful expression. Painted as an acrylic pour with vibrant green, gold, and blue, the halo behind her head is also the weight of the world on her shoulders. The colors of her face and clothes are inspired by the colors of the universe. The black, purple, red, and rose gold contrast and cradle the vibrant colors of the world, just as the love of Our Mother cradles and supports us. Mary is the Mother of Sorrows because she loves each of us as she loves her own son. Her heart breaks to see us suffer just as her heart broke to see her son suffer during his passion and crucifixion.
Mary is always with us. Even when we do not feel her presence, she is here. When I look at Mother of Sorrows, I feel the strength of Our Mother's love for me as she circles me in her supportive and loving embrace. When I say the Rosary and pray the Hail Mary, I am not afraid. I am not afraid because I trust in God. I trust that he created me, like he created each of us, to fulfill a purpose— the purpose of being who I am.

"And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary his mother: Behold this Child is set for the fall and for the resurrection of many in Israel, and for a sign which shall be contradicted; and thy own soul a sword shall pierce, that out of many hearts thoughts may be revealed."
Luke II: 34-35
Choose Your Charity
10% of the proceeds from all Mother of Sorrows purchases are donated to one of these two charity organizations. Both of these causes are near Mary's heart, God's heart, and my heart. I chose these two charities because they are both reputable organizations that make meaningful change in our community, country, and world. Thank you for your support. God bless.
